Overview

Showboard is a desktop application that runs on your Mac. We are committed to respecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.

The short version: we collect very little. Your music library, listening history, and concert diary stay on your computer.

Data We Collect

License Verification

When you purchase and activate Showboard, we process your license key through Paddle (our merchant of record). Paddle collects your email address and payment information to process the transaction. We receive your email and license status but do not store payment details. See Paddle's Privacy Policy for details on their data handling.

Update Checks

Showboard periodically checks for updates using the Sparkle framework. This sends a standard HTTP request containing your app version and macOS version. No personal data is included.

Crash Reports

If the App crashes, a crash report may be generated by macOS. These reports are only sent if you choose to share them through macOS system preferences.

Data We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, transmit, or store:

• Your music library contents or metadata
• Your listening history or play counts
• Your concert diary entries
• Your third-party service credentials (nugs.net, TIDAL, Qobuz)
• Analytics or telemetry data
• Device identifiers or tracking information

Third-Party Services

When you connect third-party services (nugs.net, TIDAL, Qobuz, Archive.org, Phish.in), Showboard communicates directly with those services using your credentials. Your credentials are stored locally on your Mac in the system keychain. We never see or transmit your login information for these services.

If you enable Last.fm or ListenBrainz scrobbling, listening data is sent directly from your Mac to those services per their own privacy policies.

Local Data Storage

All your data (library database, settings, concert diary, listening stats) is stored locally on your Mac. Uninstalling Showboard removes the application. Your data directory can be removed separately from your Application Support folder.

Website

The Showboard website (showboard.app) does not use cookies for tracking purposes. We do not use third-party analytics. Hosting is provided by Vercel, whose infrastructure may log standard server access data (IP address, browser type, pages visited) as part of normal web serving operations.

Data Retention

Showboard does not maintain any user data on its servers. Your license and purchase information is retained by Paddle, our merchant of record, in accordance with their Privacy Policy. You may contact us at any time to request deletion of your email and license association.

Children's Privacy

Showboard is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

EU/GDPR Rights

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you. We process your email address under legitimate interest for the purpose of license fulfillment. To exercise your data rights, contact us at chris@showboard.app. We will respond within 30 days.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
